MarcusMarcus Tidwell – Lead Tutor

Marcus comes to us from the US and is a graduate of East Carolina University. After working a number of years in the construction and hospitality industries he attended Medical Arts Massage School in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2005 and graduated with honors. Marcus then went into private practice where he worked athletes, musicians, and others from all walks of life. He soon began teaching and supervising student clinics after building a successful massage practice. His pragmatic and grounded approach to teaching makes him a favourite among students. He is a professional member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals, the American Massage Therapy Association, and was nationally certified by the National Certification Board For Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. Marcus was also active in several charities in the US and continues to volunteer here in NZ with Relay for Life and Oxfam. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and also playing disc golf and softball.

NZCM JoannaJoanna Tennent – Tutor

Joanna has been in body work practice for almost two decades. Prior to that she established one of Auckland’s first vegetarian cafes that also provided excellent espresso coffee.  She has been at the forefront of exciting initiatives in the development of the massage therapy industry in New Zealand including providing the first ‘prosection’ opportunity for therapists in 2000 and organising an audio-visual linkup between the 120 conference attendees and one of the world’s preeminent fascial researchers (based in Ulm Germany) in 2007.

Joanna has worked in various teaching and academic coordinating roles at NZ College of Massage since 2000. Her networking skill, has assisted  the college to establish working relationships within the wider Wellington community including; Central Pulse, Wellington Saints, Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit, and Mary Potter Hospice.

 A long time interest in anatomy and movement patterning and the relationship to effective rehabilitation underpins her clinical orientation. She is a registered member of MNZ

NZCM CarolCarol Wilson – Tutor

After 15 years working in Oncology as a Radiotherapist Carol completed a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage. She was responsible for setting up massage in many Aquatic Centres in Wellington employing therapists and networking among health professionals for 7 years. An interest in on going learning and education led to a Diploma in Adult Education. Regular up skilling, linking with overseas therapists in many modalities including myofascial training has led to the key areas of tutoring to include: Clinical Therapeutics, Theoretical Reasoning and Anatomy and Physiology. Carol wishes to inspire students to achieve all they can on their road of discovery of the human body, massage and themselves, utilising many different teaching and learning styles. She is actively involved for
more than 10 years in collaborative efforts to create a national profile for massage.

NZCM TrevorTrevor Hamilton – Contract Tutor

Trevor currently has a clinic at Capital Sports Medicine and has been involved in massaging many sports persons including: Silver Ferns, All Blacks, Super 15 rugby, Rugby League, Football, Triathletes, Kayak racer, Down Hill Mountain Bikers, Middle and endurance distance runners, Adventure Racers – all competing at National or International levels.

Trevor has spent most of his working life as a Joiner and has been a partner in a Kitchen and Bathroom renovation Company since 1990.

He started his part time studies in Massage at The New Zealand College of Massage in 2000 and graduated with a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage in 2006.
Since then he has been actively involved in tutoring of part time courses to share his passion of Massage with students.

Bridie Munro – Tutor / Clinic Coordinator

bridieBridie Munro graduated from NZCM in 2013 with a degree in neuromuscular therapy. She has worked in a health clinic for several years providing soft tissue treatment for acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. In addition to this Bridie has been a supervisor for the Wellington NZCM student clinic since 2014. In 2016 Bridie has reduced her clinical practice and come on board as a tutor at the College teaching musculoskeletal anatomy and introduction to anatomy and physiology.

Specialist Areas: Pain Science, Therapeutic massage, Neuromuscular therapy, Orthopaedic & Rehab Massage , Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Clinical Practice, Clinical Supervision, Anatomy and Physiology, Shoulder complex and pain science.

Karin Burger – Marketing Liaison

Coming from South Africa, Karin started as international student at NZIS, graduating from the Diploma in Sports Management and Exercise Prescription and the Advanced Diploma in Exercise Prescription with Distinction and Merits. Karin joined the NZIS team in May 2015 as site administrator and is now the friendly face of the Wellington Campus.
