The New Zealand College of Massage (NZCM) provides a range of qualifications in Massage from level 4 Certificate to Level 7 Degree level. We are the largest provider of massage qualifications in New Zealand and have been teaching therapists since 1993.  We currently hold a Category 1 status with NZQA the highest possible category, and have recently completed our TEC audit with No Recommendations.  To maintain our high quality teaching standards, we are always looking for outstanding tutors to deliver our courses at Certificate (weekend hours) and Diploma level (weekday hours) . If you have ever thought about teaching in body therapy, and would like to join our dynamic, exciting team in this growth field, we are interested in hearing from you. You will have the following skills:

  • A current qualification in Massage (minimum of Level 6 Diploma level), with excellent    understanding of the complexity and functioning of the body
  • Love human anatomy and physiology, and other theoretical aspects of health-related subjects
  • Have clinical experience (e.g. massage therapist or in other related health modalities ie. Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage)
  • Be excited to and able to adapt your teaching for massage therapy students, making your courses relevant for their practice
  • Be able to teach confidently to a wide range of cultures and ages (adult)


The weekly commitment could be as little as 1.5 days (or 9 hrs) per week or as much as a full time position depending on your teaching capability and expertise.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have proficiency in one or more of the following areas:

Clinical Therapeutics and Theoretical and Clinical Reasoning: 

including techniques such as MET, NMT, Soft Tissue Therapy, Myofascial Treatment, and active release techniques.

  • Further qualifications in Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Sports Massage and Hot Stone Massage will be an advantage.
  • You must place these techniques within a massage clinical context.
  • You must have competency in functional assessment and the effects of posture and movement patterning.
  • You will hold a diploma or equivalent in areas of health science  and have considerable clinical experience and business management skills.
  • Hold an adult teaching qualification or be willing to commit to completing one through Open Polytech
